Dog Rescue

In the short term, money donated will go to care for Henry, a mixed breed dog that I adopted out of cruel and abusive conditions thanks to the work of a true Aggie.

In the longer term, I will use any money donated in excess of the cost of Henry’s care in the next 90 days to establish a canine rescue whose mission is to take in, rehabilitate, and place dogs that are otherwise considered un-adoptable due to medical, illness, or training/behavioral problems. The rescue, when formed as a 501(c)3 organization, will be named “Aggie Liberty Canine Rescue” — Aggie from the spirit and morals of Aggieland, the home of Texas A&M University, and Liberty from a portion of the inscription on the base of the Statue of Liberty:

“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

The ten largest donations that I receive before July 31st will have their pick (in order of donation amount) of a variety of Texas A&M apparel remaining from the time I spent working for Athletics. I never felt right selling it outright since it was “given” to me as part compensation for the amount of effort and overtime we put in, but I think this is a worthy cause. Items include never-worn or lightly-worn winter jackets, letterman’s jackets (both retailed in the MSC bookstore for over $300), warmup suits, polo shirts, etc. My apologies for my squibby size, but all items are Nike Mens Medium or Small (Nike Medium should fit a normal large and Nike small looked like a tent on me), and Adidas Men’s Small (which fit me perfectly)… either way, it’s some pretty nice stuff. Please use the paypal donation button below and be sure to leave your TexAgs name, if you have one, and your real name and an email address or phone number at which I can contact you. All donors will be considered founding donors of the rescue foundation when it is formed, and (unless you request otherwise) your name will be

And above all — Thank you. I’m only a staff member at TAMU, not a student or former student. I’ve never before encountered a group of people with such a giving and honorable spirit. I hope to one day receive a Master’s degree from TAMU, and I’ll feel privileged to have attended classes with so many other wonderful people.

Sincerely, Karl Katzke (aka Superspeck)
