Daring Fireball has a bunch of Mac apps sponsoring it’s RSS feed this week. They’re all worthy, they’re all cool, but they’re all very regrettably overpriced.

Indie Mac developers should learn from Apple’s approach with the Apple Store. $.99 is the right price for a song, and millions of people have confirmed Apple’s pricing decision.

I’d drop $5-12 on Mercury Mover in a heartbeat. But $24? Sorry, my inner bohemian kicks in. With all of the sponsored apps being $20 or more, I have looked at all of them but dropped cash on none.

  1. I feel the same. I think it was a great way for Gruber to roll some funds in through the site, but like you, I’ve not spent a penny on any of the applications, regardless of their merit or usefulness.

I think this is going to be the key selling point of the iPhone App Store applications when they start flowing come June. Quick and dirty, simple applications that do one thing well and cost next to nothing but sell like hotcakes.
