UPDATED: MySQL To Reserve New Features for Paying Customers

Well, I guess it’s time to learn Postgres again. Sun Microsystems bought MySQL AB (The makers of the MySQL Database) in February, and now they’ve announced that new features will only be released to companies that buy a MySQL Enterprise license.

Someone seems to have forgotten that the community gave MySQL it’s place because it was easier and lighter weight than Postgres or any other solution — and the community can take away when it can no longer use the features it needs and MySQL fails as it tries to go up against Oracle, Postgres and MS-SQL.
