I like being in Systems. We get to play with lots of really cool stuff. Unfortunately, when things with really cool stuff go wrong, they really go wrong.

I’m searching for pictures of the destruction. Three walls knocked down by a transformer going “poof” sounds like a good time.

Update: CenterNetworks, CeaseandPersist, etc. Seems that half the webcomics of the world are offline — all of Blank Labels, Danielle Corsetto, etc. Update from the CEO: 1st floor power’s totaled, 2nd floor comes online overnight. Hope for their sake that BLC’s in the 2nd floor of the datacenter (2/3 of the servers hosted at ThePlanet’s H1 facility) and not in the 3,000 servers on the first floor, where power conduit to the street has apparently been destroyed. Schlock Mercenary has already come up at an alternate site.

A beer to the first person who gets some pictures of the carnage posted online…

Update 2June08: Some pictures taken from the outside of the datacenter — to paraphrase the guy that took them, I’ve never seen so many generators and electrician’s trucks in one place before from so many different companies, even on active construction projects. Also, there’s a recorded message from Doug Erwin, the CEO of The Planet. Seems that the RV in the above photos was from A&H Electric in Conroe, TX.
